Anthony's letters
Raiford USA, June 2019
To my dear friends and supporters,
Greetings from Florida ! I hope everyone is in the best of health, most joyous spirits and enjoying the summer season.
I am doing fine, feeling healthy and strong. I remain focused on legal matters and remain positive-minded and confident that we will eventually prevail in this fight for justice if we do not give up hope.
I have been informed that due to the longevity of the appellate procedures, some supporters have grown weary and have started fading away from this fight for justice. Yes, this judiciary process in America is often slow, especially when it comes to capital appeals. However, there are many cases where capital defendants spent decades on death row before they were exonerated. They prevailed because their families, friends, lawyers, investigators and supporters did not give up hope. I understand how some supporters, and even some friends, can unintentionally lose focus on my fight for justice. I can understand how some supporters’ interest can unintentionally fade due to situations and circumstances occurring in their own lives. I know life goes on for everyone outside of these prison walls. And I do pray for and think about friends, supporters, relatives and others every days. So, when it comes to fighting for my rights, justice and my life, I have no other option than to rely on the compassion of ordinary caring people that sympathizes with my plight because I cannot do this alone. In order to have a glimpse of a chance to succeed, I need help. And this is why I continuously humble myself and ask for help. Even though these appellate procedures are difficult to comprehend and long, I am asking all of my friends, supporters and those who care to stay strong and patient.
I am humbly asking you all to share my story with others and be supportive as much as possible to help save my life. I am not perfect, but I am not a murderer nor a monster. I have been on death row 27 long unimaginable years for a crime I did not commit ! Would you give up hope if it was you or someone you love ?
We are still awaiting on the Florida Supreme Court to render a decision on my appeal. While this appeal is pending, my lawyer is filing motions to the Appellate Courts to obtain pertinent documents and files from the former prosecutor’s home, State Attorney’s office and the Public Defender’s office. My investigators are carefully reviewing records in search of newly discovered evidence. We are leaving no stone unturned. The fight goes on and we will never give up hope.
I thank you all with all my heart for your friendship, kindness, prayers, support and love… I leave you all with the words of Reverend John Wesley (1703-1791):
Do all the good you can.
By all the means you can.
In all the ways you can.
In all the places you can.
At all the times you can.
To all the people you can.
Much respect and much love,
Anthony Mungin
